Brookwood is a growing program offering a unique residential home manager position in two of our group homes. Successful candidates will oversee much of the day-to-day activities in a home for 10-12 Brookwood Citizens. Supervisory or management background in a healthcare setting would be preferred in this critical role and/or experience working with adults with disabilities or special needs. Applicants must be mission-orientated individuals who have a desire to serve God by providing a nurturing environment for our Citizens. This position is provided with housing on campus or housing stipend, and the schedule is Monday-Friday. Salary is determined, within the provided range, based on an individual's experience level.

JOB SUMMARY
The Residential Home Manager (Assisted Living Manager) ensures a safe, happy and healthy environment for our Citizens. The Residential Home Manager oversees all operations within the home in which they provide direct care. The Home Manager interfaces with other departments, including (but not limited to) medical, administration, work program, activities, and spiritual life. They also regularly interacts with other Residential Community Members in order to provide a true sense of community and “home” for our citizens.
This position is responsible for a variety of administrative duties, including (but not limited to) dealing with personal finances of those living in the home, communicating with the Citizen’s family, the general management and stewardship of the home’s budget and expenses, interviewing, hiring, training new Community Members, reviewing performance, and overseeing day-to-day operations within the home.
Additionally, they perform direct care duties including (but not limited to) administering treatments and prescribed medications, house maintenance and cleaning, meal preparation, and reporting any change in health condition. Some (but not all) of these duties may be delegated to the Community Members that the Home Manager oversees, however it is the responsibility of Home Manager to ensure all necessary tasks are performed.

**Housing on campus is provided for this position; or if on campus housing is unavailable, a housing stipend is provided.**
I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Manage the daily activities of the citizens assigned to his/her care. These activities include (but are not limited to) personal hygiene, meal preparation, home maintenance, socialization, vocational, skill development and medical treatment and medication regiments.
2. Producing and maintaining the business records for the home including (but not limited to) citizen bank accounts, receipts for purchases, and any operational practices that ensure good stewardship of the home.
3. Planning meals and diets for the citizens; shops weekly to buy groceries and supplies for the home to ensure adequate inventories of food and supplies are on hand to meet the needs of the home.
4. Trains, monitors, and leads the home’s Community Members to ensure all necessary functions of the home are carried out efficiently; ensures HHSC compliance; establishes performance standards and goals for the home; conducts periodical performance reviews with the staff to document their progress; makes recommendations regarding staff training needs, compensation, and readiness for advancement.
5. Follows an established uniform plan for each home’s community members in such areas as citizen care, home maintenance and meal preparation to assure a clean, safe and comfortable environment is maintained.
6. Successfully completes Medication Administration training. Distributes prescribed medications to the citizens by following instructions of the nurse; ensures medication logs and records are completed as required.
7. Maintains an ongoing “relationship of trust” with families and guardians through regular contact. Reports activities, issues, and responds to questions related to the citizen’s health and wellbeing. Provides information and feedback to the weekend Citizen Home Respite to ensure continuity of care is maintained.
8. Plans and participates in community life events, holiday celebrations, and some fund-raising activities. Citizen Home Parents accompany citizens on planned activities, both on and off campus. This may include leisure activities, airport runs, and errands.
9. Reports to various Citizen Life teams regularly, verbally or in written reports, on each area of their responsibility. Reports include (but are not limited to) citizen medical concerns, maintenance requests, and incidents. Timely reports are given to issues requiring follow up by management.
10. Works safely and maintains a vigilant presence for the safety and well-being of the citizens and Community Members in their home. Immediately corrects or reports unsafe conditions in the home to the Residential Director or Maintenance Department. Conducts regular safety, fire and health training for staff; participates in the home safety inspections.
11. Any other duty as deemed appropriate by the Residential Director.
II. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the home. Directly supervises 2-3 Residential Aides and the Weekend Home Manager. Residential Home Managers carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) planning, assigning tasks, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems in the home.

III. QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
A. Education and Experience - Prefer undergraduate degree with 2 to 5 years’ experience working with adults with functional disabilities. Previous experience supervising a group home is desirable but not required. Home Managers are expected to participate in on-going professional training opportunities to enhance their knowledge of specific disabilities in order to better understand the citizen’s medical, psychological, and vocational needs.
B. Skills and Abilities – Home Managers should possess personal characteristics such as patience, tolerance, and a willingness to learn more about specific disabilities and adapt to expectations. They must have a strong sense of serving and caring for the needs of adults with functional disabilities. In addition, he/she must possess strong written and verbal language skills and be competent in relevant computer skills.
C. Reasoning Ability – Home Managers should have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of individual behavioral issues while maintaining control of a home situation.
D. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – Consideration given to CPR and First Aid. Home Teachers must possess a minimum of a valid driver’s license from the State of Texas.
IV. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, an employee is frequently required to communicate by listening or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; stoop; kneel; bend; crouch; crawl; and climb stairs. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or transfer a citizen to and from a wheelchair or bed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. (i.e. when transferring a citizen to and from a bed or a wheelchair).
V. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is that of a large, modern home. The Home Manager typically manages the lives of 10-12 adults (average) with disabilities and provides personal care and hands-on support to the citizen’s individual needs. This position requires a flexible individual; someone able to multi-task and adjust to the many variables found between assignments.
